The AJC reports that the failure of Atlanta’s Omni National Bank is the ninth one in Georgia in the past 12 months.

Since the start of 2008, Georgia has more bank failures than any other state. California is second with 8 failures.

Problem is, Georgia has about 4.5 million people. California has 34 million.

UPDATE: Commenter correctly points out my population data is wrong. Georgia has 9.6 million, California has 36.7 million. Data from the Census is found here (Excel file).
